Cleema app nominated for European innovation award

A major success for our ‘ Smart ’ –City – initiatives: the Cleema app has been nominated for the 2026 Innovation in Politics Awards in the categories of Climate Protection and Digital Innovation and Governance. The award recognises projects across Europe that drive political innovation and sustainable transformation through digital solutions.

The winning projects are not selected by a panel of experts, but by a Europe-wide citizens’ jury comprising over 1,000 members. The aim of the Innovation in Politics Awards is to raise the profile of political innovations, promote the exchange of successful approaches and make tried-and-tested projects accessible across Europe. This creates a growing network of examples that can also be used in other cities and regions.

The nomination highlights how digital tools can support local authorities in implementing climate action in a concrete, user-centred and effective manner – a key component of modern ‘ Smart ’ cities. The winners will be announced in October 2026 in Cascais, the European Capital of Democracy.
