



The TeMeS (TeleMedSpace) project is creating an innovative telemedicine solution in the Dresden region, which digitally expands specialist medical care and makes it accessible both regionally and beyond. The aim is to provide faster, more efficient care for people with breast cancer, thyroid conditions or breastfeeding problems in the comfort of their own homes, using video consultations and digital processes.
The central aim of TeMeS is to expand pre-treatment, during-treatment and post-treatment care through a specially developed video consultation service. The aim is to simplify access to care, reduce travel times and, at the same time, ensure that patients’ data remains secure.


Over the course of their lives, around one in three adults develops at least one pathological condition affecting the thyroid gland. Breast cancer is by far the most common form of cancer among women. Many of these conditions require lifelong monitoring and, in some cases, ongoing treatment. At the same time, hospitals are under considerable pressure due to a shortage of specialist staff and high patient numbers. It is often difficult to arrange flexible appointments, and long journeys place a particular strain on older people and patients living in rural areas.
A similar gap in care is evident in breastfeeding support. Particularly in the first few days after giving birth, many mothers rely on prompt, empathetic help – TeMeS brings this support directly to their homes. However, long journeys, time constraints and midwives’ heavy workloads make it difficult to provide timely and needs-based care for mothers.
This is where TeMeS comes in, providing digital access to specialised medical and advisory care.

At the heart of TeMeS is an innovative medical portal that enables secure, data-protection-compliant digital communication between healthcare professionals and patients. The technical foundation is provided by a communication server that is connected to the hospital information system via standardised interfaces.
This server links video consultations and medical documentation. Findings, medical histories and X-ray images can be fed directly back into the hospital information system or stored in the electronic patient record within the telematics infrastructure (TI). There are also plans to integrate further patient portals.
A comprehensive security concept ensures that all data is processed in accordance with the GDPR. The use of modern telematics components and, in the future, the TI Messenger ensures high performance, scalability and maximum security for all parties involved.


The OncoBroker project offers companies in Dresden the opportunity to play an active role in improving healthcare provision for the city’s residents. This presents a major opportunity for companies to develop new, innovative eHealth solutions for Dresden’s hospitals and to strengthen the healthcare sector in the Dresden region.
