Under the motto "Stadt.Land.Tech", the Smart City Convention from 7 to 9 November 2023 once again provided insights into the digitalization of federal, state and local authorities with 15,000 participants. The Federal Ministry's Smart-City initiatives were present at the stand, on stage and in the supporting program. The trade fair featured more than 600 speakers on four stages as well as over 600 sessions, more than 70 workshops and around 350 partners.

At the stand of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building, the model projects Smart Cities (MPSC) presented selected solutions on all three days of the fair, for example on climate resilience, urban data platforms and City apps.

The Dresden MPSC project team not only used the Ministry's stand to listen to interesting presentations by experts and speakers from other municipalities, but also to exchange ideas with the Germany-wide MPSC college. The trade fair also offered the opportunity to take part in exciting workshops, for example, the MPSC Dresden team gained input on the topic of "From strategy to implementation: successfully designing Smart City projects".

In addition, the Smart City Award, in which Dresden 2023 took 6th place, was presented on the first day of the trade fair. The digital association Bitkom uses the Smart City Index to compile a digital ranking for Germany's major cities and compares the progress of digitalization in cities and regions. The successful transformation to a digital and networked city is analyzed and evaluated in the 5 categories of administration, IT and communication, energy and environment, mobility and society. The Smart City Award recognizes pioneering technological developments in a networked city.
