Dresden, the state capital, is developing and testing cross-sector digital strategies for living and working in a city of the future as part of its ‘ Smart ’ –City – initiatives. Digitalisation will continue to transform many areas of public administration, the economy and urban society. In a ‘ Smart ’ City – in other words, a ‘smart city’ – municipal infrastructures, such as energy, buildings, transport, water and wastewater, are interconnected using information and communication technologies.
In the ‘ Smart ’ City Dresden , the opportunities offered by information and networking technologies are harnessed to promote sustainable, integrated and public-interest-oriented urban development. The resulting smartapplications and concepts make a decisive contribution to strengthening Dresden as a liveable, resource-generating and sustainable city, as well as to creating a higher quality of life.
Dresden’s knowledge and business landscape is an essential component in supporting our cities in the future as they tackle the challenges posed by climate change and the energy and mobility transitions. Dresden is therefore an extremely innovative and high-performing business hub that consistently produces young companies with forward-looking products and services.
