Clean energy for our city

We are committed to ensuring that Dresden develops sustainable and intelligent energy systems. For the population, this means fewer emissions, more renewable energy and a cleaner future. Dresden is involved in several EU projects, making it a model city or a "laboratory for the whole of Europe".

Smartes living, smarte solutions

The Dresden House of the Future shows how it can work. Sustainable energy solutions such as tenant electricity models and flexible electricity tariffs make everyday life more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. A central building control centre monitors energy consumption and ensures optimized use of resources.

Early warning systems against storms

Dresden is particularly affected by the risk of flooding as a city on the Elbe. In addition, climatic changes are leading to increasingly severe weather events. Using sensor technology and simulations, corresponding forecasts can be calculated and the population and civil protection can be warned in good time.

Sustainable energy supply

A sustainable energy supply is being established through the use of photovoltaics, wind energy and modern energy storage systems. An Smartenergy model is being tested at the municipal hospital Dresden Friedrichstadt, which should lead to a climate-friendly, secure and cost-effective energy supply for the hospital in the long term.

Innovative energy solutions

Dresden offers the opportunity to work on pioneering energy solutions through projects such as NEUTRALPATH and MAtchUP. These include the use of photovoltaics, geothermal energy and innovative construction technologies such as carbon concrete and timber construction.

New business areas

The DymoBat project is testing how intelligent energy management systems can integrate the batteries of electric fleet vehicles into the power supply. This opens up pioneering business areas for companies in the energy and mobility sector.

Designing a climate-neutral city

By working together in lighthouse projects such as the "Positive Clean Energy Districts", companies can play a key role in the transformation of cities towards climate neutrality.

Joint solutions

Extreme weather events pose major challenges for municipalities. In order to be prepared, research, municipal administration and industry are coming together to develop appropriate solutions.
