Smart district heating network in Dresden-Friedrichstadt goes into operation

In Dresden-Friedrichstadt, the district heating network has been comprehensively digitised and made capable of intelligent control. By analysing operational and consumption data, the heat supply can now be tailored much more precisely to actual demand. A large-scale heat pump complements the system and efficiently feeds renewable heat into the network. The project demonstrates how digitalisation is becoming a key technology for climate-friendly district heating.

Dresden City Council adopts the ‘ Smart ’ – ‘City ’ strategy

On 15 June 2023, the finalised ‘ Smart ’ –City – strategy, and with it the working framework for the subsequent implementation phase, was formally endorsed by the City Council. The implementation phase can begin as planned on 1 July and will end on 31 December 2026. '19 million euros for a "smarter" city'

19 million euros have been made available for the development of a ‘ Smart ’ –City – concept. Using digital tools, members of the public can contribute their ideas and suggestions, which are then processed and evaluated largely automatically. The smartapplications and concepts developed during the project period, which runs until the end of 2026, are intended to make a decisive contribution to strengthening Dresden as a liveable city and should be adaptable for use by other cities throughout Germany.
