Kick-off for the start of the implementation phase

Phase 2 of the model project Smart City Dresden (MPSC) officially began on July 1, 2023. On June 27, a kick-off event in the plenary hall of Dresden City Hall duly heralded the start of the implementation phase.

The participants included heads of office, department heads, heads of specific measures, members of the current and future steering group, the project team from the IT services company and the project team from the Technical University Dresden (TUD). At the kick-off, all those involved in the project were brought up to date before the hot phase begins. Jan Donhauser, representing the Head of the Business, Digital, Human Resources and Security Division, welcomed all those present with a motivating speech.

The event looked back on the previous strategy phase, which began on January 1, 2022 and ended on June 30. During these 1.5 years, the focus was on developing the Dresden Smart-City strategy. Individual accompanying measures have already begun to implement initial concepts and acquisitions and presented these results to the plenum. The following measures have been worked on so far:

  • Cleema App I A15 (continuation/further development in phase 2)
  • Environmental monitoring I A86 (continuation/further development in phase 2)
  • Smart Participation I A15 + TUD (continuation/further development in phase 2)
  • Sector coupling I A80 (continuation/further development in phase 2)
  • MOBImonitor/MOBIsimulator I A61 (no continuation within MPSC)
  • Creation of the Smart-City strategy, led by TUD

In the 2nd part of the event, an outlook was given on the upcoming project duration, which runs until December 31, 2026. The respective project leaders presented their plans and goals to all those present on condensed posters for each project. The guests had the opportunity to ask questions or provide feedback with regard to strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks. In the implementation phase, the following nine measures are to be implemented as models (subject to approval by the funding body):
