Digital Day 2025: Dresden invites you to have your say, help shape and participate
The sixth nationwide Digital Day will take place on June 27. This year, the state capital Dresden is once again taking part with exciting activities relating to innovative digital solutions.
Under the motto "Digital democracy: Have your say. Help shape it. Participate." the city forum Dresden (AGORA, 1st floor) will open its doors from 1 pm to 6 pm for citizens who want to find out about digital developments in the city and get involved themselves. Participants are:
The Citizens' Issues department invites you to the "Digital democracy on site in the city forum" for an open exchange on the future of digital citizen participation. The Smart Participation team from the pilot project Smart Cities Dresden is looking forward to the dialog with citizens.
With the "Co-Creation Lab Administrative Digitization Dresden", a platform where visitors can interactively experience how digital solutions such as the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet) will change the administration of tomorrow. Workshops and prototypes invite visitors to play an active role in shaping innovation in administration.
Under the motto "Smart City Dresden experience: Energy & Mobility interactive" two innovative EU projects: NeutralPath and MOBILITIES for EU. Both initiatives are part of the EU mission "100 climate-neutral and smarte cities by 2030" and show how Dresden is taking the path to climate neutrality through digital innovations.
The municipal libraries Dresden are also taking part in Digital Day with a variety of hands-on activities at a total of nine locations in the city. The main focus here is on playful access to the digital world. Children and young people can try out digital games, gain their first experience in programming robots or paint creatively with virtual reality goggles. The libraries invite them to try out modern technologies, discover new things and expand their own digital skills in an entertaining way."
But what exactly is Digital Day?
Digital Day brings people together and encourages them to actively participate in the digital world. The aim is to bring digitalization to life and initiate a social dialogue about it. This year's motto is: "Digital democracy: Have your say. Help shape it. Participate." Because the digital world not only offers opportunities, but also poses challenges - for example through the spread of fake news, hate comments or the emergence of so-called echo chambers, in which one-sided perspectives are reinforced and alternative points of view are ignored. Digital Day aims to actively counter this - and promote a resilient society that is confident and critical of these developments. At the same time, the positive potential of digitalization should be brought more into focus: for example, the opportunity to draw attention to grievances or to offer marginalized groups a platform to make their concerns visible.
