Introduction

Since 2019, the state capital Dresden has established an OpenDataPortal as part of its Urban Platform. This platform provides access to urban data and promotes transparency, participation and innovation by making open data available. With this project, Dresden aims to systematically expand the use of open data and strengthen the role of the public sector as a central data provider and promoter.

The goal

The aim of the open data project is to better exploit the benefits of open data for the city. In addition to making the data available, it should also be actively promoted and its use facilitated so that the population, companies and the administration can benefit from it. By analyzing international examples and developing practical use cases, Dresden aims to demonstrate how open data can contribute to solving urban challenges - from promoting innovative ideas to sustainable urban development. In this way, the project aims to make a long-term contribution to shaping Dresden as a modern, liveable and sustainable city.
