The model project Smart City Dresden has defined three "smart districts" in order to test its research and measures in a defined environment. The team from WISSENSARCHITEKTUR - Laboratory of Knowledge Architecture (TU Dresden) regularly provides information at city festivals and engages in discussions with citizens. A partner project also attended the Friedrichstadt district festival.

The sector coupling project aims to digitally network energy systems to integrate renewable energies into the municipal district heating supply. The model has been developed and will be tested in Friedrichstadt. Representatives from the Office for Economic Development and the participating companies Sachsen Energie and STESAD presented the technology, implementation and benefits of the smartenergy system as part of the Neutralpath project. Many visitors showed great interest.

The team from WISSENSARCHITEKTUR (TU Dresden) is conducting accompanying and synthesis research (Smart City Research) to determine, among other things, the needs of citizens for the further development of the districts. The toolbox Smart Participation, which provides tools for citizen participation, also contains the co-design tool U_CODE. It served as a "playground" to try out at the model project stand.

The self-developed tool makes it possible to be creative in the 3D model of your neighborhood. For example, you can construct buildings, plant trees or create playgrounds. A low-threshold playground that makes you want to play, but also very vividly depicts the needs and ideas of the neighborhood residents.

"Intelligent neighborhoods"

The "Smart Neighborhoods" concept was established in the scientifically developed Smart- City strategy. Following the guidelines of Dresden's "Integrated Urban Development Concept" (INSEK), three districts were selected that together represent a range of geographical and demographic conditions for urban development: Johannstadt, Friedrichstadt and Prohlis.

In order to identify citizens' needs for the further development of the districts, the WISSENSARCHITEKTUR team conducts regular participation formats in the districts under the title "Smart Participation". City festivals were defined as a fixed point for the so-called neighborhood workshops. They make it possible to reach a large number of residents. The results also provide a basis for comparison due to the annual rotation of the festivals.

Colleagues from the state capital informed interested parties about other aspects of the pilot project, the measures of which are presented on a joint website .
